As Chief Technology Officer of Thomson Reuters Labs, Mona Vernon studies the way data intersects the lives of professionals across the globe. She’s passionate about information design and empowering tech entrepreneurs, and she sits on the board of Boston-based non-profit FinTech Sandbox, which helps startups access financial data to build better products.
Mona draws her inspiration from all of the incredible women working in tech. When asked who she’d like to acknowledge she told us: “the two that come mind immediately are Rana el Kaliouby, CEO of Affectiva and Fei Fei Li, Chief Scientist of AI/ML at Google Cloud and Stanford professor.”
Because of her work travel demands, Mona leans on Ministry of Supply for its structured fit, ease of packing and no-fuss care. She values convenience and comfort, telling us, “I’m often traveling around the globe and I like to travel light with a small duffel bag.”
What is one thing you wish you had time for?
Taking more classes at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and completing a degree in graphic design. I love to draw.
What type of music do you listen to?
I used to be a DJ so I am always on the hunt for new music. I have an eclectic taste ranging from Duke Ellington to New Order.
How would you describe your wardrobe in 4 words or less?
A system of uniforms based on skinny jeans and form fitting dresses.
What are you favorite other stores to shop at?
Ministry of Supply of course, James Perse for their skinny ruched dresses, Horses Atelier, Rachel Comey and Isabel Marant for boots.
Anything else we should know about?
I have been to the Ministry of Supply Boston store several times. It has been a great experience because Alejandro has helped me style my wardrobe and create a uniform that looks great and fits my personality... I hope the women's line continues to expand.
